WHAT ARE TRIMMINGS?

Many moons ago, we were textiles design studio Umbrella Prints. We designed and produced fabrics and made Trimmings, little packets of our fabric sent all over the world. We loved mixing colors and patterns in ways that felt surprising and right, naming them after memories, nature, and magic.

We wondered what you were making with them? So we started the Umbrella Prints Trimmings Challenge. For seven years, we watched in awe as makers transformed these tiny pieces into quilts, collages, animations, digital art, intricate crafts, and things beyond our imagination. Each year, the entries surprised us, revealing new ways of thinking, new connections, and endless creativity.

When we closed our studio and sold every last piece of fabric, we kept just one thing, a packet of Trimmings. Because for us, Trimmings weren't just fabric-they were markers of time, of the best moments of creating together. For others, they remain favourite sparks of inspiration for your creative pursuits - collages, art, gift-making, design boards, flat lays, patchworks and small sewing projects.
